Five tips for e-mail marketing content

To get more visitors out of e-mail marketing, the first step is to send out a newsletter on a regular basis, at least every two weeks. This may result in e-mail campaigns that are opened more often, more clicks, and the ability to remain visible for receivers. One of the most common challenges is creating enough relevant e-mail marketing content.

This article is also available in Dutch.

In this article, five tips are given for creating relevant content for e-mail newsletters.

Tip 1: News and special offers

It is, of course, important to provide some news every newsletter. This news is often reported in the header of the newsletter. It could be news about the organization, an event, a new product, or a sharp offer. The first article and the subject line should be attractive enough to open the e-mail.

Tip 2: Service content in the newsletter

For existing clients, it is possible to create e-mail marketing content in the newsletter about service. For example by including two frequently asked questions about the product purchased or two tips on how to make better use of the product.

Tip 3: Lifecycle e-mail marketing content

A newsletter subscriber is probably interested in what is offered. He or she could be a prospect who still has to become a client, or a subscriber whose subscription is about to expire. E-mail marketing content can be created for these situations: a new client receives tips, a former client receives an offer to return. Content could also be created for people that have not opened the newsletter for a while. The goal is to engage them with your newsletter.

Tip 4: Newsletter e-mail marketing content for target groups

Receivers of the newsletter are not all the same. For example, something specific can be reported for the elderly, people with children, or millennials just entering the labor market. Depending on the client’s situation, e-mail marketing content can be created and sent in personalised newsletters.

Tip 5: Content about events and developments outside the organization

A newsletter does not only have to be about your own organization! As you can see in our marketing calendar, a lot is going on in your field that is relevant for receivers. So take a look in this field and use this content to create a more relevant newsletter.
